Annually, SGMP honors Founder Sam Gilmer’s contributions with a banquet that celebrates the outstanding contributions of SGMP members with the Planner of the Year, Supplier of the Year and the President’s Award. Awards for excellence in communications and programming are presented to outstanding chapters. Join us on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 6:30 – 9:00 pm CDT for our Sam Gilmer Reception and dinner. You may purchase a guest ticket for $50 during the registration process. Stay after to participate in our Live Auction from 9:00 – 10:00 pm CDT.
Attend to see who this year’s honorees will be and find out about all of the awards we give. We encourage attendees to dress up for this event, but it is not a requirement and business dress is acceptable.
Sam Gilmer’s vision became the first mission of SGMP — to enhance the knowledge and expertise of government meeting professionals by improving the quality and promoting the cost-effectiveness of government meetings. But, his work as a meeting planner with the Department of Health and Human Services back in the 1980s made it hard to find training and development in the unique field of government meetings. This is why he and others founded SGMP, a professional association dedicated to government meeting professionals that provides the training and industry relationships to raise the bar on government meetings across the U.S.
